What’s The Big Deal About Shopping Locally?

out-of-businessNo doubt about it, the Internet has forever simplified and even taken charge our lives. Even people who swore 10 years ago that they’d never even own a computer are addicted to ‘the box”. We use it for everything from looking up recipes to finding a plumber. Nearly obsolete, the yellow pages may as well be foot rests for those of us computing!

The little jewel that sits on our desk, attached to the www is moving so quickly, it’s hard to imagine NOT finding what we need at the touch of a mouse or stroke of a key. Do you remember the term “Shop till you drop”? We sure don’t do that anymore like we did. Now we can cook dinner, help our child with homework and shop at the same time. Right from the convenience of our own homes.

Convenience Has It’s Price
When we stop shopping locally, we are not only sending money outside of our community but we are also hurting businesses who support our local economy by paying huge commercial taxes.
